WritePad, the prefect text editor for iPhone – Review

WritePad is the perfect text editor that very cleverly recognises all styles of handwriting and translates it for you on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. It has the ability to recognize advanced handwriting and includes a spell check service, context analyzer and a number of standard functions such as copy, pasting and cutting too.

You can enter the text onto WritePad by using your finger or an iPhone approved stylus pen. Text can be entered either in landscape or portrait formats and it is easy enough to switch back and forth between the WritePad handwriting mode to the standard iPhone keyboard function. WritePad is definitely one of those apps that get better the more you use it. At first you may notice that the app tries heard to learn your specific style and we all write differently. But over time WritePad gets to know your style and learns as the software begins to adapt to your specific style.

Using the text select function, copy, paste, and cut buttons is also something you will get used to quickly and find it all much easier with experience. In fact after a short while you can quickly pick up how to select text and copy then paste it by using just one finger. WritePad even has a Shorthand Editor feature where commonly used words can be selected and circled so that the shorter version of that much-used word can quickly become translated to the full word after you have circled it.

But WritePad’s best feature was its ability to create text documents and store them onto your iPhone. It also has a built-in server that allows you to swap files between devices running on the iOS platforms. You can even download files to your PC straight from your iPad or iPhone by using an internet browser. You can also send emails directly through the WritePad app and use the copy and paste function to transfer the text you have compiled between WritePad and other applications.

The app even supports an ability to transfer text to another language as it has a Bing Translator tool running inside. We found it easy to translate documents we created into the Cloud services by moving files easily into Dropbox, Sky Drive, Evernote, iCloud, or iTunes.

WritePad also helps you create a neat and error free document with many dynamic features like the spell-checker, cut and paste functions and handwriting recognition software. There is also an iPad version of WritePad which make the app even better because with a larger screen it just seems like we can do more and easier.
