One of the latest battle gaming apps played and tested this week is Tap 4 Fun’s Invasion – a battle match game where it’s not all about shooting, killing and driving the enemy into submission by weaponry and warfare. Well, don’t get me wrong, there is plenty of that here but there is also lots of planning too.
Invasion is more like a war than some of the games you will have played which offer you just plain old shooting, striking and killing opponents to gain ground, territory and points on the board. Invasion requires building up friendships so you have allies.
If you don’t have allies, you cannot expect to defeat the enemy. Invasion is all about planning too. Vast armies will need to be trained, so don’t expect a ready-made bunch of soldiers to do battle with your enemies and win the day all because you won some extra points and gave them a bigger gun.
Your aim is to expand the territory you own and that can be achieved by having a well-trained army and plenty of close friends prepared to fight by your side. And all this comes before a single shot has been fired in anger.
Resources are commodities like oil, water, wheat, and land and transport links and during the times when you invade enemy territory you are going to have to dominate and manipulate these resources so they become under your control and work for you.
Real-time battle changes all the time, so Invasion will too. Constantly things will change and update and keep you on your toes at all times. It’s a game you’ll never get used to, a challenge that will feel like the first time you have played it, every time.
This has the advantage of being able to challenge against experienced Invasion players when you are just a novice. Territorial advantages will change and your enemy may steal ground back from you. The battle goes on and is constant all the time.
Sounds great? That’s because it is and everything here is brilliantly planned, wonderfully executed and displayed in full-bodied 3D.
The stunning setting for Invasion takes place in the near future year of 2020, when governments have fallen and rival factions do battle to gain as much ground as they can. Many cities will have fallen and you are plunged into a dark new age.
