Hashtags have come a very long way in recent years. Only three years ago I had not heard of the term and certainly did not know what it meant. After I had learned of its power and description through a friend, I continued to take little interest until I discovered the growing power of a hashtag through Twitter.
However, through the app BroadTags you can actually take hashtags one stage further. You will actually follow words or phrases that are interesting to you and not people or organizations. But the best bet for you is to find a topic you are interested in and then go for it.
I decided to follow the latest tennis matches at #Wimbledon2015 over the summer and then the #RWC2015 (that’s the rugby world cup event in England and Wales incidentally) during the fall season but whatever trends you fancy following do so by inputting your favourite trending topic and watch it grow and go!
Your favourite topic might be something like #fashion or #heels; maybe you want to check all the latest events going on in and around the #Hollywood jet set, once you have found your favourite topic, you follow it and stay right up to date.
Interaction with people who are also interested in such topics should be your next goal and by using BroadTags in such a way, you can actually communicate on a one-to-one basis with another person who has a like-minded interest in the subject of your choice.
I had a brilliant line of communication going with some guy who supported the same football team as I do; we tore the team to shreds and both wanted to sack our useless manager through our lines of communications. This was all made possible via BroadTags but there’s no need for you to simply and blindly follow – get involved yourself.
You can actually create a series of photos, videos and texts and tagged them under your own trendy hashtag. When someone likes your post, or if somebody happens to pass a comment online, you get to know about it right away. The more people who become interested, the more chance you have of actually creating a bit of a trend all on your own.
Hashtags are the way forward and everybody seems to be looking at them at the moment. In the near future they will only get bigger, so downloading BroadTags might be a good idea to keep you in the loop and well within the trends of today’s social media frenzies.
