This app, we think you will like. Have you ever been on Twitter, Facebook or WhatsApp and felt like putting your opinion and moans or groans onto a forum, but then you stop short of doing so, in the fear that your opinions and political persuasions would end up losing you your friends or followers?
We have all been there. We read something within a forum and shout out loud our feelings and opinions, but do we dare to put them down and press send? Do we heck! The fear of losing a good mate because you might actually like Donald Trump, or fear of a lifelong chum falling out with you because you supported a team that happens to a hated rival to that person close to you?
Candid is a way around that problem. Here’s how it works: you will receive a post or a status from a friend but you won’t know which friend it is; all friends are posting anonymously. You will be given a different pseudonym for each and every post, which prevents others from getting used to a certain named poster.
What we feared about Candid was the freedom of expression might lead to cyber bullying, foul or colourful language, extreme political opinions or even down right online aggression. It is like the gloves are off, you have been thrown into a dark room with a blindfold on and told to hit whatever you bump into.
Fortunately, the app developers have a solution to this problem – moderation. Reporting and moderation are extensively covered on the forums and topics, so that nothing untoward or unsavoury gets out there without the offender being thrown off the site. So, slander, cyber bullying and offensive postings are pretty much dealt with at the source.
All good there then, the moderation really is good and quick. There are teams of moderators ready and able to jump on any flippant or unsavoury behaviour. But this doesn’t stop you from speaking your mind or voicing opinion that may well be in conflict with others. After all, when you are banging the world to rights, there’s nothing like a nice healthy conversation.
Candid is one where any of your friends or contacts are not going to fall out with you, de-friend you or snub you next time you see them down at the local restaurant of coffee shop. That’s because you will be candid!
