California BUCKiTDREAM-in’

Dreams are an interesting phenomenon. Whichever way you slice it, there’s a huge amount to be read into them. A succession of images, ideas, or emotions that come upon us when we sleep. And they seem to be communal, too. We’ve all been sat in a school assembly or work meeting, and looked down in horror to discover we’re not wearing any clothes. Or fallen off a tall building. Or watched our teeth fall out. There’s no ‘dream class’ we get when we’re young, so why do we have this collective consciousness of themes and images that we can all draw on? As I said, interesting. Dreams are considered personal, yet they are, on a wider level, shared. This is exactly the inspiration behind BUCKiTDREAM, a brand new app that aims to bring dreamers together. It’s out now for iOS and very soon for Android.

Ok, I mislead you a little. BUCKiTDREAM is not some kind of sci-fi apparatus which can be utilised to hack into a collective global dream space, a la Charles Xavier. Or maybe it is. But it’s a lot more literal. It functions as a kind of hybrid between a bucket list and Facebook, where users gather together and share their dreams and ambitions while encouraging their friends to do the same. You can post a dream of yours; say, for instance, hiking in the Alps, and then people can like and comment on your intent.

If it sounds like a conceit, it’s not. This app is genuinely made with positivity and you get the sense the developers, straight out of California USA, really want to create a community of dreamers and go-getters that can help spur each other on. The interface of the app will be easy to navigate for anyone who’s used Facebook or Instagram on a mobile; laid out in a classy deep red, you scroll through your timeline and encounter people’s posts about places they want to go, things they want to see and stuff they want to do.

One major benefit of the app is that’s it’s immediately uplifting. You can’t help but get a warm feeling while you’re scrolling through it. It sounds like it could be self-obsessed on paper, but in reality it has much more of a community feel than Facebook or Instagram, which are obsessively focused on the self. Ironically, while seeming to be the more introverted, BUCKiTDREAM is the opposite, which is a great achievement on the part of the developers, and something they should be proud of as their app continues to grow. Get on board now and watch this space.

Astral project yourself over to the App Store and get California dreaming for free today!
