Children of the 90s will remember the friends theme tune ‘I’ll be there for you’ by the Rembrandts. It epitomised the day-today struggles of life for twenty-something’s and the strong friendships that forge when times get tough. But it’s been awhile since that last episode and millennials are needing a generational boost of their own. Jumping Ahead is aiming to fill that gap with their new motivational app You Totally Rock.
The premise is simple; sign-up via email of Facebook and receive three timely, motivational quotes or tips for optimising your own happiness throughout your day. A message of good morning, good afternoon and goodnight ‘name’ set against a peaceful gif of a majestic mountain range, peaceful lake or epic sunset is followed by a galvanising message that will spur you on for the rest of the day.
If three messages isn’t enough and you find yourself feeling a little self critical, doubting or pitying, then you can hit the ‘rock it to me’ button for an additional hit of good will. The interface is a basic scrolling feed of old posts interspersed with quick quotes, motivational Insta-style memes and more in-depth advice to maximise your overall happiness. If one post particularly inspires you then you have the option to pay it forward (so to speak) and send it out on Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest to your friends and family to give them a bit of a boost too.
The app is free to download and contains no in-app purchases or annoying advertorials. For anyone who feels like they need a bit of encouragement, motivation and inspiration from their daily lives then You Totally Rock is a fun, good-natured and risk-free app that could do just that.
