Time flies away so fast, doesn’t it? 2019 is almost here, it just feels like yesterday everyone was making their resolutions for 2018. Most of those resolutions were never really kept. Like when you decided to try that new place and you still haven’t even searched the location, or when your brother promised to clean his drawers and sell old iPhone that he has been hoarding for a while and well that drawer has only piled up. Good for you, 2018 has not all gone just yet, here is a list of all the things that you need to do before beginning 2019.
Call Your Family
Picking up the phone and making a call is not that big of a deal, which makes it just that much big of a deal because we have this notion in mind that everyone is close and we can pick the phone up and call any time. But in reality, we never really get the time to pick up the phone and actually make that call. Think about it, how long has it been since you talked to your mother or your grandfather and asked them how they are doing? Visiting may be a long process, but you can make a call and let them know you care.
Clear Out the Clutter
There are a lot of things that have piled up in your house over the years that you may or may not have noticed. It was proved in a study that clutter actually contributes to stress, and you don’t want to start the New Year with that, do you? So pick a day, put on your clean-up gear and go through everything that is muddling up. Get rid of broken headphones, sell old phones, throw event tickets, clean medicine cabinet, etc.
Read a Book
If you aren’t already a reader, take a book and start reading it. Reading is one of the best hobbies, even if you are not drawn to it, there is scientific proof that it has many health benefits like stress reduction, mental stimulation, etc. Other than that it also increases knowledge, vocabulary, and even analytical thinking. It doesn’t have to be War and Peace if you are not that hard-core non-fiction reader, you can start with Harry Potter and go on from there.
Clean the Kitchen Cabinet
You can probably point out those multiple incidents when you saw those amazing kitchen utensils and went nuts or the time when you bought new utensil because you couldn’t find the other one. We are all guilty of such behaviour, and a side effect of this is that there are a lot of things in the kitchen that you don’t need. So you can take the time to sort out your kitchen cabinet, and then you can either toss the extras out or sell them like you sell old phones.
Sort Out Your Computer
If there is any place that you can clutter without even trying or knowing, that is your computer. There are very few people that actually take the time out to organize their documents and photos into respective folders, needless to say, they get their stud faster than other people. Take the time out to go through those folders and make your life easier getting into the New Year.
Take a Self-Care Day
We all have such busy lives that we often neglect people around us, and when we do get time we spend it on people around us. In this whole process, we overlook the most important thing that we need to take care of – ourselves. Change that before the year ends, start the fresh year with the refreshed you.
Clean Out Your Closet
Don’t even try to deny that your closet doesn’t need cleaning out. Everyone has those few dresses that never saw the light of the day and probably never will. Then there are also those dresses that you thought you would wear when you lose weight, and you never got around to doing that. Take a deep breath, be honest with yourself and go through your dresses and get rid of the ones that you no longer want to, or can wear. You can give them to your friends or you can out them up for sale when you put ads up to sell old phones.
Do That Thing You Always Wanted to Do
Do you always keep thinking about joining the gym but you never really get to it? Or do you have that dream weekend planned but you never really get to finalizing when you make that happen? Do you want to start a blog about something but never got the time to? Do it. Before the year ends, start it. Tell yourself to stop stalling and get to it.
Reconnect with Old Friends
We all made promises to stay in touch when we graduated, but then the practical world hit so hard that all those things became a blur and a distant thought at a Sunday afternoon. How long has it been since you have had drinks with your best friend ever since you had you became a mom? How many times have you thought of meeting your mates but work came up? Get your phone out, coordinate your calendars and catch up. It is not only refreshing to meet old friends but it would actually make you feel good that you will start a new year with better friendships.
Write Your Goals for 2019
Last but not least, write down all the goals that you need to achieve by the end of 2019. Write them in your journal or post them on your refrigerator so that you can be reminded of them every single day. When you write your goals down, you plan ahead and you can think of a course of action and ultimately you achieve something amazing. So let’s hope it works and next time you have better things to do than toss out event tickets and sell old phones on the sellthemobile.
