How to Get Page 1 Ranking in Google?

Every single webpage developer strive to get in the elite club of first page of Google’s search result. If you ask why? Then the answer is that it leads to an increase in traffic and improves the blog’s reach to millions which can be the catapult to your business.

Remember that there are trillions of sites and each of them are competing to the same goal as yours. Unfortunately, high rankings are rare with reality that even skilled marketer struggles to get into that spot. Thus there is no guarantee that a startup can show up in the first place. But there are some strategies that can help you achieve that feat. Be aware that Google aims to rank pages based on quality ratings and relativeness to searched keywords, which would be discussed in detail in this post. Secondly if you manipulate your rankings disapproving Google or other search engine’s guidelines, your site will be penalized or in worst case it will be removed entirely from the web.

The quality ratings with which Google analyses the sites are based on ‘EXPERTISE, AUTHORITATIVENESS, TRUSTWORTHINESS’ (E-A-T) of the main content of a page. According to Google search quality evaluator guidelines 2017, “Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness are  important quality characteristics lacking which the page suffers a low quality rating.” Apart from     E-A-T, disruptive advertisements and misleading page titles are considered as characteristics of a low quality page.

The Google search engine’s result page (SERP) lists content coupled to the keyword which is queried by the searcher. Thus each slice of your content should be optimized for the keyword. Keep in mind that you don’t overuse the keyword in the content. Rather you can use variety of words that is interconnected with your keyword.

Interestingly creating long-tailed keywords proves to be promising to your goal than using common keywords. Users mostly searches with comparison. For an instance, assume that user wants to buy a laptop, he/she may prefer searching as “best laptops under 15k” to “best laptops”. Thus your content should have been optimized for the keyword “best laptop under 15k”, increasing your chances to be listed under the first page of SERP.

A page can be optimized to the keywords by optimising the following

  • URL ( The above image shows the example of URL with keyword.
  • Title tag.
  • Image tag and captions.

If you are a child in a competitive landscape filled with elders with huge marketing budgets then working to outrank them will be a waste of time and money. Rather spend more time creating a large amount of content which would push your rankings. It would increase the amount of keywords in your site hence more chance of Google placing you in the first page. Make sure your content has adequate word count to keep your viewer stay longer in your site and wish to return frequently.

Secondly, it would increase links to your site. Acquiring links can also be done by guest posting on prominent sites and adding your links to local business index. But understand that you should add more content with increasing qualities in accordance to the customer’s requirements.

PAY TO AdWords

You might have seen the search results with the website links prefixed as ‘Ad’ within a rectangular box. Those are the sites who pay Google AdWords to highlight their content at top most position of a SERP. But it is important to use keywords in proper way as explained earlier. If you have paid for AdWords but failed to have a proper keywords you might not receive expected footfall in your site resulting in dissipative investment. In the image below there is an example of site highlighted by AdWords.

Getting your brand featured or reviewed on sites is a strategy which can be more effective than all the other modes of marketing. It’s in other term is free marketing of your product which will dramatically increase your traffic, if you are reviewed as best among competitors.

There are numerous tools in industry with which it is recommended to check your site’s compliance with Google’s recommendations. You could also check your rankings, traffic, keywords and domains.

Some of the tools to check compliancy are SEMRush, SiteBulb, Crawler and Screaming Frog. Tools for checking website parameters are SEMRush, Pro Rank Checker and Rank Tracker.

Industry leaders are producing contents for years and spending huge funds for the advertisement campaigns. Thus understand that they would have been dominating SERP with huge loads of keywords and if you are a beginner then it is impossible to be placed in the first most page of the search engines. You should be building your traffic, backlinks and domains in a best strategy to accomplish your goals. Get featured and reviewed on top articles. Research and create content for long-tailed keywords since it would have lesser competition and effectiveness.
