It’s rumoured that the Xperia 4 will have Snapdragon 710 SoC under the hood and a display with 21:9 aspect ratio. It’s the same aspect ratio used by the earlier Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus. Despite its tall design, the Xperia 4 could be smaller than earlier Xperia devices. The Sony Xperia 4 may have 5.7-inch display with Full HD+ resolution and 21:9 aspect ratio. The Snapdragon 710 SoC will be accompanied by 64GB of internal storage and 4GB of RAM. On the back, there’s a dual camera setup, but there’s still no information about what camera used at the front. The Xperia 4 has 9.4mm thickness and 2,800mAh battery. However, it may not have 3.5mm earphone jack. It could be available in Silver, Red, Purple and Black colors. The Sony Xperia X4 could have an overall width of 65mm, just like the Xperia XZ2. It’s also quite tall, at nearly 150mm. With the powerful hardware and high resolution display, we would see whether the Xperia will have acceptable battery life, at just 2,800mAh.
The 21:9 aspect ratio is the standard used by the film industry. Sony seeks to rejuvenate the long-struggling smartphone series. The Xperia is the newest flagship device of the series, which was unveiled at the MWC 2019 event. We would also see whether the Xperia 4 will be a multimedia oriented device, which plays movies using the original aspect ratio.
As comparison, the Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus are considered as mid-range devices. Starting at $350, both devices could offer decent bangs for the back. They have Snapdragon 630 chipset in tow, which is decent for any casual smartphone usage. The Xperia 10 Plus is a more powerful device with the faster Snapdragon 636 SoC, which is also used by the Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro and Nokia 8.1. The Snapdragon 636 could also be used by the upcoming Google Pixel 3 Lite.
