Huawei P40 Pro, Features at a Glance

Huawei is one of the most innovative smartphone makers in the industry and with the P40 series, the company is offering worthwhile features, like the longest optical zoom, wireless charging that performs like wired and biggest camera sensor for a smartphone. Best of all, they all work as advertised.

Design and display

The Huawei P40 Pro is one of the models in the series with a quad-curve waterfall display and a 6.6-inch (2640 x 1200) panel. It feels quite solid in the hand with proper weight distribution all around. With the 90Hz refresh rate, it is a good trade-off between battery consumption and smooth visuals.

Cameras

There are dual 32MP selfie cameras with 4k video recording, depth sensor and autofocus for decent social media photos. The primary 50MP sensor on the back has the largest sensor size ever on a smartphone at 1/1.28” that could soak in more light for low-light photography. There’s also a 40MP ultra-wide lens and 8MP telephoto with 5x physical zoom and 10x hybrid zoom. The phone could shoot 4k video at 60fps and the AI-based image stabilization works well even when you walk fast.

Internal hardware

The Huawei P40 Pro is powered by Kirin 990 SoC and integrated multiband 5G modem. There are also 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The 6-speed WiFi supports very high-speed WiFi connection and the dual-frequency GPS can lock any position within seconds. With an AnTuTu score of 466900 points, the P40 Pro is slightly faster than the Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max at 456786.

Battery

The 4200mAh supports 40W wireless and 40W wired charging. At 90Hz, the display discharges 12 percent of the battery each hour, compared to 10 percent each hour at 60Hz. With wireless or wired charging, you can charge the battery from 0% to 100% in no more than an hour.

Conclusion

The Huawei P40 Pro is a compact smartphone with high-performance hardware. Its camera is very capable of detailed 10x hybrid zoom and clean night time photography. The in-display fingerprint scanner is quick and accurate. The display is smooth 90Hz, but still gentle on battery life. The triple-SIM slot gives you more flexibility in using multiple accounts. It’s very unfortunate that Google services don’t run at full capacity on P40 Pro. As an example, you can’t log into your account when using Maps.

Huawei will still be available to purchase wherever.
