PS5 to be Launched in an Online Event Tonight 9pm UK Time

The PlayStation 5 event was postponed due to the much respect for the Black Lives Matter protest taking across the world. There will now be an online event that is being streamed on Twitch and YouTube tonight at 9pm for people in the UK and will run for an hour. The event will give gamers the first look of the PS5 console and the unique games that will be available. The event is merely an announcement and will be a glimpse of what the console will look like. The actual release date is expected to be before the end of December 2020.

So far the only confirmed bit of hardware that we’ve seen is the DualSense controller. That was revealed on the 7th of April with a few specs announced. It’s also been sent out to a selected few game developers.

The event will be stream on Sony’s YouTube channel here and on the official PlayStation website. Some of the first few games expected to be announced include Destiny 2, Fortnite, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, and the most eagerly awaited release, Godfall.

Sony’s Senior Director, Sid Shuman had this to say:

That’s why I’m excited to share that we will soon give you a first look at the games you’ll be playing after PlayStation 5 launches this holiday. The games coming to PS5 represent the best in the industry from innovative studios that span the globe. Studios, both larger and smaller, those newer and those more established, all have been hard at work developing games that will showcase the potential of the hardware.

This digital showcase will run for a bit more than an hour and, for the first time, we will all be together virtually experiencing the excitement together. A lack of physical events has given us an amazing opportunity to think differently and bring you on this journey with us, and hopefully, closer than ever before. This is part of our series of PS5 updates and, rest assured, after next week’s showcase, we will still have much to share with you.

Anyone else excited as I am?
