How to Set Up Apple Pay on Apple Devices

Apple Pay is a payment service that was first introduced in 2014 to make it easier for users to make their payments using Apple devices. Similar to Samsung Pay, Apple Pay is like a virtual wallet containing all of your credit and debit cards. Alongside online payments, this service also allows you to make payments at stores that support Apple Pay via the NFC. In this article, we will guide you on how to set up Apple Pay on Apple Devices. This includes iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Mac. If you want to use Apple Pay on multiple devices, you need to add your cards to each device.  Here is what you need to do:

Add A Card on Your iPhone

  • Open the Wallet application on your iPhone
  • Tap the (+) icon on the top right corner to add your card
  • You can either scan your card information or enter them manually. Some banks may require their apps downloaded to add a card into Apple Pay.
  • Tap Next
  • Your bank or card issuer will need to verify your card and decide if you can use it on Apple Pay. They will contact you if they need more information. Follow the bank’s instructions to verify your card
  • After your card is verified, tap Next.
  • And it’s done! your card is in the Wallet app and you can start using Apple Pay now

Note: You can add up to 12 cards on Apple Pay. For older models, you can only add up to 8 cards on a device.

Add A Card on Your iPad

  • Open Settings on your iPad
  • Go to Wallet & Apple Pay
  • Tap Add Card
  • You can either scan your card information or enter them manually. Some banks may require their apps downloaded to add a card into Apple Pay
  • Tap Next
  • Your bank or card issuer will need to verify your card and decide if you can use it on Apple Pay. They will contact you if they need more information. Follow the bank’s instructions to verify your card
  • After your bank verifies your card, tap Next and it’s done.

Add A Card on Your Apple Watch

  • Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone or iPad
  • Go to the My Watch tab. If you have multiple watches, select one.
  • Select Wallet & Apple Pay.
  • Tap Add Card to add a new card. You can also add cards on other devices or cards that you’ve recently removed. You will need to enter the cards’ security codes in this case.
  • After importing your card information, Tap Next.
  • Your bank or card issuer will need to verify your card and decide if you can use it on Apple Pay. They will contact you if they need more information. Follow the bank’s instructions to verify your card.
  • After your bank or issuer verifies your card, tap Next again.

Note: You can add up to 12 cards on Apple Watch 3 or later models. For older models, you can only add up to 8 cards on a device.

Add A Card On Your Mac

It will be a little bit tricky to add a card on your Mac. If you are using a Mac model that does not have a built-in Touch ID, you need to complete your purchase using Apple Pay via your eligible iPhone or Apple Watch. Just go to your iPhone’s Settings> Wallet & Apple Pay and turn on Allow Payments on Mac

On the other hand, with Mac models that support Touch ID, you can add a card in Apple Pay. What you need to do is Go to System Preferences > Wallet & Apple Pay> Add Card. From now on, you can use your Touch ID to authenticate purchases made at retailers that support Apple Pay.
