Asus May Soon Release ROG Phone 4

Asus released the ROG Phone 3 back in July last year with official release on the United States a few months later. The Taiwanese company designed it from scratch as a powerful gaming smartphone with Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ and Adreno 650 GPU. It starts with 128GB internal storage and 8GB RAM, while the top variant has 512GB internal storage and 16GB RAM for exceptional multitasking performance. The next generation ROG (Republic of Gamers) gaming smartphone will be even more powerful. We could expect an official release of ROG Phone 4 in a few months or perhaps sooner. Instead of positioning its premium model as a “mainstream flagship”, Asus seeks to stand out more by appealing to gaming-oriented audience. Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and iPhone 12 Pro Max perform admirably for gaming purposes, but the ROG Phone 4 could deliver something more for gamers. If we assume that the release procedure of ROG Phone 3 is repeated, the ROG Phone 4 could first appear in China, followed a few months later in the United States and other countries. The sleek appearance of the ROG 4 Phone could be enough to appeal many gamers and it will be much more than just an ordinary 2021 flagship.

Asus has alluded to us through Weibo that the ROG Phone 4 will indeed come to the market with its non-existent bezels on the sides and top, while the bottom will still have very thin chin bezel. However, there’s a slight possibility that the device will be called ROG Phone 5 instead, due to its internal model number, I005DA. The current ROG Phone 3 is designated internally as I003DA. However, it is a fairly common practice in today’s mobile industry to skip numbering in model number, but keep the commercial model name consistent. According to a certification document from China, the I005DA will have a decent fast charging feature at 65 Watts. It is a substantial improvement over the ROG Phone 3 with 30W charging. This puts the upcoming ROG Phone 4 comparable to the Oppo Reno 5 Pro and Huawei Mate 40 Pro, while beating the brand-new Samsung Galaxy S21 family, upcoming OnePlus 9 Pro and Xiaomi Mi 11. Because consistent 3D gaming could require an insane amount of power, it’s tipped that the new smartphone will have 6,000mAh battery. By today’s smartphone standard, it’s a colossal amount of battery output capacity and it should keep the ROG Phone 4 running longer on a single charge. This is almost a certainty, because the ROG Phone 2 and ROG Phone 3 already have 6,000mAh batter. There will be reverse charging feature to transfer battery juice to other devices.

Because the ROG Phone 4 will use Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, we could also expect that the device will include 5G data connectivity. The basic variant may also have 128GB of storage and 8GB RAM, just like its predecessor. At the moment, 8GB RAM is enough for more casual gaming, but higher amount of RAM is necessary for more intense gaming. It should use Android 11 and Asus’ interface skin on top, along with various software optimizations to ensure smoother gaming performance and better experience.
