BBK Electronics own both OnePlus and Oppo brands. It means, there are plenty similarities between these two, in terms of hardware features. In fact, the Oppo Find X series is a strong hint about what the flagship from OnePlus would be. The Find X2 came with 1440p display and 120Hz refresh rate, which was rather groundbreaking at the time. The OnePlus 8 Pro arrived later with an identical panel. So, it is quite understandable to expect that the OnePlus 9 Pro will have the same 50MP camera from Samsung, just like the one we see from the Find X3 Pro. BBK Electronics that also own the Vivo brand seems to use the same trick again this year. Typically, the Oppo and Vivo brands have the best software features and camera hardware. The OnePlus brand with its underdog status tends to have better value for money. But this time, the OnePlus 9 Pro seems to be a rather capable and powerful device. In a recent specs leak, we get the following facts.
The OnePlus 9 Pro will have 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display with 1440p resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. There’s also the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, which offers integrated 5G functionality with its X60 modem. The base model of the OnePlus 9 Pro offers 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The 48MP camera from Hasselblad has f/1.8 aperture and it’s accompanied by 64MP ultra-wide camera with f/2.2 aperture. The 4500mAh battery should be capable in many situations and it has 65W fast charging support. In terms of photography capability, the OnePlus 9 Pro comes with the 48MP and 64MP cameras combo, which puts at the same level with cheaper models of Galaxy A and Galaxy S series. The leak also includes 3.3x magnification, but we don’t know about the actual camera resolution for the telephoto camera, but it could be 64MP, just like what we get from Samsung Galaxy S21 and S21. It is possible that the OnePlus 9 Pro will have crop zooming. Based on a previous rumour, the telephoto camera will have 8MP resolution, but need to for real confirmation.
On the other hand, it appears that the OnePlus 9E will have an interesting battery life and it’s a more affordable model, compared to the OnePlus 9 Pro. It will have 6.5-inch display with 90Hz refresh rate and 1080p resolution. The Snapdragon 690 chipset puts it in the mid-range category, in terms of performance. The basic model of OnePlus 9E will also have 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The primary camera will have 64MP sensor and f/1.7 aperture. The ultrawide camera will have 8MP resolution and the most appealing would be the 5000mAh battery. The OnePlus 9E should deliver a great battery life, especially if we set the refresh rate lower at 60Hz. The Oppo Find X3 series will arrive next month and it is likely that the OnePlus 9E, 9 and 9 Pro will be available not long after that.
