It is believed that the next flagship from Samsung will have 200MP camera on the back. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra could be the first device in the world with such resolution. This reported is recently obtained from sources in China, specifically the IT Home website. It cites posts in Weibo from Digital Chat Station and Ice Universe. The chipmaking division of Samsung released a teaser in March showing that a 200MP camera module will be available in the market soon. The same also happen when the South Korean company introduced the 108MP camera module for the first time. We also heard that Xiaomi will also release a smartphone with the same resolution for the rear facing camera. In February this year, the South Korean company unveiled the 50MP ISOCELL GN2 module.

Recently, the company announced the next generation 108MP camera module, which offers a number of improvements. It has larger pixels than earlier 108MP modules that can collect more light for enhanced photography quality. The company will use pixel-binning technology, so the Galaxy S22 Ultra should have much better performance in areas with low light. We know that the 108MP HM3 camera module of Galaxy S21 Ultra offers much better improvements, compared to earlier generations. We could be hopeful that Samsung won’t reinvent the wheel with its new 200MP camera. We may expect that the same advanced implementations will be used for the new camera model. There are other rumours as well that the Galaxy S22 won’t have ToF sensor, which is quite surprising.
Another rumour told us that the new flagship should have sensors from Olympus, as Samsung has formed an agreement with the camera company from Japan. We shouldn’t be too surprised to see that the Galaxy S22 Ultra will come with many advanced features. As an example, it could have an Exynos chipset with dedicated GPU from AMD. With under-display selfie camera, the Galaxy S22 Ultra will have clean performance, because there’s no need for a punch hole or notch. As a direct improvement over the Galaxy S21 Ultra, we could expect exceptionally better performance. It will be interesting to see how the GPU from AMD will compete against Adreno series.

This means, AMD will regularly update drivers for its mobile GPU, which could gradually improve performance and fix glitches. It seems that the mobile market will enter a new phase. Mobile devices will be much more powerful. Although graphics rendering won’t match dedicated GPU for laptops and desktops, the performance could be at another level. This gives game developers more headroom when offering graphics with exceptional quality. Users will enjoy their mobile experience better and mobile gaming will be huge. It is interesting to see how the mobile market will be in the next few years. Future smartphones will have similar appearance, with no visible selfie camera and nearly 100 percent screen to body ratio. What differs them would be the amount of performance and features that could benefit any user in the mobile industry.
