Augmented Reality (AR) Technology and Everything You Need to Know In 2022

What comes to mind when you hear, the countdown to the end of the smartphone has already begun?

For those of us in the tech space, this isn’t news. The countdown clock has been ticking for quite some time now, all of which can be attributed to the advancement of augmented reality (AR), artificial intelligence not to mention other cognitive technologies. We are at a very critical point in human history where technology is advancing rapidly. We, therefore, anticipate that the mediums used to communicate must change too, limiting the existence of the smartphone.

Over the past decades, we have experienced the age of smartphones peak in correspondence with emerging needs. Due to the rapidly changing technology, smartphones are struggling to keep up with the current trends in technology, notably AR, and the opportunities that come with it.

The rate at which technology is changing is unfathomable, and it continues to shape the world we live in significant ways. We seem to be experiencing a transition inclined toward internet services over basic telephone use. Let me elaborate. Looking at an ecosystem of social media marketing, the focus has shifted to creating visual assets with smartphones being used to deliver content to consumers-

Tech leaders like Facebook F8 and Google I/O to mention a few seem to share the notion that AR will transform our lives. These brands have tipped the capabilities around AR technology, and it’s now clear that their efforts are geared toward bringing brands closer to consumers. It, therefore, means that in the future individuals through AR will enjoy more immense and virtual marketing campaigns. For example, there is increasing popularity of 360-degree imagery that we believe will create a more interactive experience between consumer and brand.

Let’s pause for a while and look at the benefits of Augmented Reality

If you’ve been following the current tech news and trends, then you might have begun to realize that AR has many benefits. Augmented technology is affecting our everyday habits. There are apps already in the market like Glasses rooted in artificial intelligence. For instance, Olay Skin Advisor is a tool that can tell you exactly how old your skin looks. In other words, there are highly intuitive and user-friendly products out there that are making life more interactive. Most industries are relying on interactive vision, enabling consumers to do certain things in the comfort of their homes. One of the most common ways, perhaps you might have come across is the ability to measure rooms or objects through smartphones as seen in newer iPhones.

Augmented Reality will significantly change entertainment and the e-commerce industry. At the same time, the growth of AR adoption will change the way we interact with brands to education and training. AR will enhance a more interactive experience, which means it will more likely promote better retention as opposed to static content. Adoption of AR in learning institutions will provide an opportunity to expand and visualize complicated tasks before practically undertaking the process. Ideally, this will revolutionize medical training and engineering. It’s just a matter of time, but augmented reality will become part of our lives.

Let now look at the future of AR

It’s the high time we face the future of communication; a more interconnected digital space powered by the advancement of AR, that is not constrained by outdated hardware. We are entering an era where everything that seemed ‘sci-fic’ in movies starts to become reality. In near future, perhaps we will be navigating the streets with AR displayed directions-As opposed to using Google Maps, perhaps one day you will navigate the streets of the most populated city with AR direction right up your eyes, appearing as if laid in front of you.

As we usher in this new era in the future, it is hard to say the type of ‘phone” we will be relying on. The reason is, we are preparing for a transformational time when smart devices may be no more, so we anticipate something completely different from what we have today.

To say the least, when AR devices become common, our lives will change completely. Essentially, devices will become more intuitive and even more interactive. To a great extent, our interaction with technology will be much smoother, paving way for revolutionizing different fields like marketing or education. We spend a considerable amount of time online. The adoption of AR, will drastically change the way we communicate and interact with the physical world.
